New hope for IBS-D sufferers: ramosetron trial aims to tame diarrhea and pain

NCT ID NCT07574320

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether the drug ramosetron can reduce belly pain, bloating, and diarrhea in people with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). About 76 adults aged 18–65 will receive either ramosetron or a placebo daily for 4 weeks, along with a low-FODMAP diet and lifestyle advice. Symptoms will be checked using a standard severity score at 4 and 8 weeks to see if the drug provides meaningful relief.
