Zapping heart trouble without surgery: new radiation therapy could beat standard procedure

NCT ID NCT05765175

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests a new, non-invasive treatment called cardiac radioablation (CRA) against the standard repeat catheter ablation for people with a dangerous heart rhythm condition called ventricular tachycardia (VT) that hasn't been controlled by previous treatments. About 380 participants who have already had a catheter ablation and still have VT episodes will be randomly assigned to receive either CRA or another catheter ablation. The goal is to see which approach is safer and more effective at preventing death, shocks from an implantable defibrillator, and VT storms over a year.
