Pulse oximeters put to the test in extreme Low-Oxygen study

NCT ID NCT05745675

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study checked how accurately pulse oximeters (devices that clip onto a finger to measure blood oxygen) work in healthy people whose oxygen levels were deliberately lowered. Eleven volunteers had their oxygen saturation and pulse rate measured by the device and compared to blood samples and heart monitors. The goal was to see how reliable these devices are during severe hypoxia.
