Tooth infection breakthrough: less drilling, same healing?

NCT ID NCT07179835

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests if a less invasive procedure called a full pulpotomy can heal infected permanent molars as effectively as a root canal. 128 adults with deep cavities and tooth nerve pain will be split into two groups: those with and without a small infection at the tooth tip. Researchers will check healing with X-rays and exams at 6 and 12 months. The goal is to see if this simpler treatment can save teeth and avoid more complex procedures.
