Scientists track Kids' brains through puberty to unlock mental health mysteries

NCT ID NCT01434368

Summary

This study aims to understand how the hormonal changes of puberty affect brain development, stress response, and behavior in children. Researchers will follow healthy boys and girls from age 8 to 17, using brain scans, hormone tests, and behavioral assessments every 8-10 months. The goal is to learn why some mental health conditions, like depression, become more common after puberty and differ between boys and girls.
