Magic mushroom therapy tested for cancer survivor mental health

NCT ID NCT06801041

Summary

This study is testing whether psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms'), combined with psychotherapy, can help reduce depression and anxiety in people who have survived cancer. Researchers will give 20 cancer survivors two doses of psilocybin during therapy sessions to see if it's safe, feasible, and improves their mood and quality of life. The study will also check for changes in brain activity and body inflammation.
