Magic mushroom therapy could lift depression in cancer survivors

NCT ID NCT06801041

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests whether psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, combined with talk therapy can safely help cancer survivors who feel depressed or anxious. Twenty adults who have finished cancer treatment and have no brain tumors will receive a single dose of psilocybin in an outpatient setting. Researchers will track side effects and mood changes to see if this approach is feasible and worth studying further.
