Summary

This study tested whether injecting a concentrated form of the patient's own blood, called platelet-rich plasma (PRP), into the eye could slow the progression of advanced dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Fourteen people with dry AMD in both eyes received three PRP injections in one eye, while the other eye was left untreated as a comparison. The goal was to see if the treated eye had less damage to the retina and better vision over 10 weeks.
