Tiny study probes bone needle for anesthesia fluids

NCT ID NCT01866514

First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested a method of giving fluids through a small needle placed in the upper arm bone (proximal humerus) during anesthesia. Five healthy adults received needles in both arms to see how fast fluids could flow and if lab tests could be done from the bone. The goal was to learn more about this technique, not to treat a disease.
