First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study compares two radiation methods—proton beam therapy and standard IMRT—both given with chemotherapy for esophageal cancer. The goal is to see if the newer proton therapy is as effective at controlling the cancer while causing fewer side effects. About 147 adults with esophageal cancer took part, and researchers tracked how long patients lived without the cancer returning and how many serious side effects occurred.
