First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at how ICU patients on breathing machines process protein. Researchers gave 8 patients two different protein amounts (1.3 vs 2.0 grams per kilogram daily) and measured protein breakdown using a special breath test. The goal was to learn which protein level might help prevent muscle loss in critically ill patients.
