New prosthesis designs battle sweat and slippage for amputees
NCT ID NCT03900845
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study compared three different lower-limb prostheses to find which one best handles sweat and stays secure in hot, humid conditions. Twenty below-knee amputees wore each prosthesis for two weeks during daily activities and then walked on a treadmill in a hot room. Researchers measured slippage, sweat expelled, and skin health to identify the most effective design.
