First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested whether three types of probiotics (Lactobacillus and Pediococcus strains) can improve liver health in people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. 89 adults took either a probiotic or a placebo daily for 8 weeks, along with a standard liver medication. Researchers measured changes in liver enzymes, gut bacteria, and liver fat to see if the probiotics helped control the disease.
