Gut health boost: probiotic may restore vaccine power in antibiotic babies

NCT ID NCT07189390

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a probiotic (Infloran®) to infants who received antibiotics in their first month of life can improve their immune response to routine vaccines. Antibiotics can reduce helpful gut bacteria, which may weaken vaccine protection. Researchers will compare antibody levels in 360 babies who get either the probiotic or a placebo, aiming to see if the probiotic helps them build stronger immunity.
