Gut health breakthrough? probiotic may slow spine curvature in kids

NCT ID NCT07466511

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests whether a daily probiotic supplement (Bifidobacterium breve) can slow the worsening of spine curvature in children with idiopathic scoliosis. About 100 children aged 6 to 15 with mild to moderate curves will be randomly assigned to receive the probiotic or a placebo for up to 24 months. Researchers will measure changes in spine angle and quality of life, and also look at gut bacteria. The goal is to see if improving gut health can help control scoliosis progression.
