First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study aims to find biological markers in spinal fluid and blood that could predict when prion disease will start in people who carry a genetic risk. Researchers will follow 150 adults aged 18-85 who have a family history of prion disease, along with some healthy volunteers. The goal is to use these markers to better time future prevention trials and treatments.
