New study tests better ways to treat gum disease

NCT ID NCT07437209

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested two different treatments for gum disease: one using platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) with an antibiotic called minocycline, and the other using a different antibiotic product called Arestin. Fifteen adults with moderate gum disease received both treatments in different parts of their mouth to see which worked better. The goal was to improve gum health by reducing pocket depth and attachment loss.
