Blood gel boosts gum treatment in small trial

NCT ID NCT07375004

First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding a gel made from a patient's own blood (injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin, or i-PRF) to standard deep cleaning improves gum disease treatment. Thirteen adults with moderate gum disease received standard cleaning on one side of their mouth and cleaning plus the gel on the other side. Researchers measured gum pocket depth, attachment levels, and bleeding at 1 and 3 months to see if the gel provided extra benefit.
