Race against time: two simple treatments battle to stop babies arriving too soon
NCT ID NCT02511574
Summary
This study compared two different treatments to prevent early birth in pregnant women whose cervix measured shorter than normal. Researchers tested whether a small silicone ring placed in the vagina (called a pessary) worked as well as progesterone hormone treatment. The trial involved 203 women who were between 20-24 weeks pregnant and had a short cervix, randomly assigning them to receive one of the two treatments.
