New study aims to stop dangerous heart rhythm after bypass

NCT ID NCT07194798

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests two methods—a surgical window or a special drain—to prevent atrial fibrillation (a common irregular heartbeat) and other heart sac complications after coronary artery bypass surgery. About 122 adults having their first bypass will be randomly assigned to one of the two approaches. The goal is to see which method better reduces heart rhythm problems and improves recovery.
