Summary
This study tested whether removing a tiny heart structure called the ligament of Marshall during coronary bypass surgery could prevent a common complication: atrial fibrillation (a fast, irregular heartbeat). 220 high-risk adults were randomly assigned to get standard bypass surgery alone or with the extra removal. The goal was to see if the added step safely reduced irregular heartbeat episodes in the first week after surgery.
