Could a simple IV change shield premature Babies' brains?
NCT ID NCT04584983
Summary
This study is testing whether reducing the standard amount of intravenous (IV) fat given to extremely premature babies can protect their developing brains from bilirubin, a substance that can cause damage. Researchers will compare brain function and development at age 2 in babies who receive the usual amount of IV fat versus a reduced amount. The goal is to find a safer nutritional approach to prevent long-term developmental problems.
