New study aims to boost HIV prevention pill use among black women in the south

NCT ID NCT05626452

First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests four practical strategies—training clinic staff, educating patients, improving electronic health records, and providing patient navigation—to help more Black women start and stay on PrEP, a daily pill that prevents HIV. The study will involve 680 HIV-negative women aged 18 and older at 12 community health clinics in the Midwest and South. Researchers hope these efforts will increase PrEP use and reduce HIV rates in this high-risk group.
