Simple Pre-Surgery shoulder stretches may ease pain after breast cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT07420335

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at whether doing shoulder exercises before a mastectomy can lower inflammation, reduce pain, and improve shoulder function and quality of life in women with advanced breast cancer. Half of the 52 participants will do structured shoulder exercises for 6-8 weeks before surgery, while the other half will receive standard care. The main goal is to see if the exercises affect levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation, after surgery.
