Ambulance blood test could save thousands from unnecessary hospital trips

NCT ID NCT07563998

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simple blood test done in the ambulance can safely rule out a heart attack in people with chest pain. Many patients are taken to the hospital even though they are not having a heart attack. The test uses a portable device to measure a heart protein called troponin. The results will not change care during the study but will help researchers see if this approach could reduce hospital visits in the future.
