New combo aims to wipe out lingering leukemia before transplant

NCT ID NCT06668558

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether a combination of two drugs, venetoclax and azacitidine, can eliminate small numbers of leftover leukemia cells (called measurable residual disease, or MRD) in people with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). These patients still have MRD after initial chemotherapy or before a stem cell transplant. The goal is to see if clearing these cells can lower the chance of the cancer coming back. About 29 participants will receive 2 to 4 treatment cycles, and the study is currently recruiting.
