New study reveals clues to help preemies breathe better
NCT ID NCT05260424
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at 397 premature babies (born before 32 weeks) who were getting breathing support through a mask. The goal was to find early signs that this support might not be enough and the baby would need a breathing tube. Researchers focused on the amount of extra oxygen the babies needed in their first hours of life. The findings could help doctors decide earlier when to give surfactant medicine to help babies' lungs work better.
