Simple scan may warn doctors of dangerous blood pressure drops in elderly surgery
NCT ID NCT07339475
Summary
This study is testing if a simple, non-invasive ultrasound scan of a leg vein can predict which older patients will experience a dangerous drop in blood pressure during spinal anesthesia for orthopedic surgery. Researchers will measure the vein size in 43 patients over 60 before their surgery and monitor their blood pressure closely during the procedure. The goal is to find a quick way to identify high-risk patients so doctors can be better prepared to prevent complications.
