Breath test may predict kidney danger in ICU patients

NCT ID NCT07654010

First seen Jun 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 155 critically ill patients on breathing machines to see if the difference between carbon dioxide in their breath and blood could predict acute kidney injury. Researchers measured this difference over the first 24 hours in the ICU. The goal was to find a simple, non-invasive way to detect kidney problems early.
