Ethiopian study tests Culturally-Tailored education to boost newborn care

NCT ID NCT07095296

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether a health education program that respects local cultural beliefs can help new mothers in Ethiopia better care for their newborns and use postnatal care services. About 864 pregnant women will receive four monthly education sessions from trained midwives during regular check-ups. The goal is to see if this approach increases the number of mothers who attend at least two recommended postnatal visits and improves their knowledge of newborn care.
