Summary
This study looks at why postmenopausal women have a higher chance of developing diastolic heart failure (a type of heart failure where the heart stiffens). Researchers will examine heart tissue from 500 patients having heart surgery to see how estrogen loss affects certain proteins and energy pathways in the heart. The goal is to better understand the biological reasons behind this increased risk.
