Drug tested to wake up sleepy guts after surgery
NCT ID NCT02425774
Summary
This study tested whether a drug called prucalopride could help patients recover normal bowel function more quickly after pancreas surgery. Researchers wanted to see if the drug reduces inflammation in the gut, similar to how stimulating a specific nerve works. They measured recovery by tracking when patients could eat normally, pass gas, have bowel movements, and leave the hospital.
