Cancer patients may need fewer port flushes, study says
NCT ID NCT05454189
First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether it's safe to flush implanted port devices (used for chemotherapy) every 12 weeks instead of the standard 4 weeks. About 400 cancer patients will be randomly assigned to one of the two schedules. The goal is to see if the longer interval keeps the port working just as well without raising the risk of complications.
