Spine surgery pain study seeks best way to ease suffering

NCT ID NCT07245524

First seen Nov 25, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at 50 adults having spinal fusion surgery to compare two pain relief techniques: a spinal injection of morphine and a nerve block. The goal was to see which method better controls pain right after surgery and reduces the need for extra painkillers. Researchers measured pain scores and side effects in the first 24 hours after surgery.
