NCT ID NCT07434310

First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a medication called dexmedetomidine for 48 hours after bowel surgery helps patients recover better. About 70 adults having laparoscopic bowel surgery will receive either dexmedetomidine or a placebo, and their recovery quality will be measured using a questionnaire. The goal is to see if this drug can reduce pain and opioid side effects like nausea and constipation, leading to a smoother recovery.
