Blood marker may predict kidney recovery in sepsis patients

NCT ID NCT05939245

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looked at 40 ICU patients with sepsis-related acute kidney injury and fluid overload. Researchers measured a blood marker called pNGAL to see if it could predict how well patients respond to a water pill (furosemide) that helps remove extra fluid. The goal was to learn if pNGAL levels can guide treatment decisions, not to test a new cure or treatment.
