Heel pain showdown: pricey shockwave vs. simple massage – which works better?

NCT ID NCT07204210

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study compares two treatments for plantar fasciitis, a common cause of heel pain. One is shockwave therapy (a costly procedure) and the other is myofascial release (a hands-on massage technique). The goal is to see which approach provides better pain relief and foot function. About 114 adults with plantar fasciitis will take part, and their progress will be measured using pain scales and foot function questionnaires.
