Pilonidal surgery showdown: wide vs minimal – study pulled before start
NCT ID NCT01241136
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study aimed to compare two surgical approaches for pilonidal disease: wide excision (removing all diseased tissue plus some healthy tissue) versus minimal surgery (removing only the sinus tracts). The goal was to see which method leads to fewer recurrences and higher patient satisfaction. However, the study was withdrawn before enrolling any participants, so no results are available.
