First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study compared two surgical techniques for treating pilonidal sinus disease, a painful condition near the tailbone. Sixty adults aged 20 to 50 were randomly assigned to either primary closure (stitching the wound shut) or open technique (leaving the wound open to heal). The goal was to see which method leads to faster healing and fewer infections or recurrences. Results will help surgeons choose the best approach for their patients.
