First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether Pilates can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass as well as aerobic exercise in young women. Eighty women aged 18 to 40 who hadn't exercised in the last 6 months were split into four groups: Pilates, aerobic training, both, or no exercise. They exercised three times a week for 12 weeks, and their body fat and lean mass were measured with a special X-ray scan. The goal was to see which approach works best for improving body composition.
