New surgical trick helps narrow jawbones hold dental implants

NCT ID NCT07401238

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tested a surgical technique that uses a piezo (ultrasonic) tool to gently widen a narrow jawbone so a dental implant can be placed. Twenty patients with a single missing tooth and a narrow ridge (3-5 mm) took part. The approach successfully increased bone width and promoted new bone growth, offering a less invasive option for implant placement.
