First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether pianists' less-used hands are as skilled and fast as the dominant hands of people who don't play instruments. Twenty adults aged 18-30 took part—half were professional pianists, half were non-musicians. Researchers measured hand dominance, fine motor skills, and reaction time using simple tests like placing pegs and catching a falling ruler.
