Could a chat with your pharmacist keep COPD patients out of the hospital?
NCT ID NCT03704545
Summary
This study tested whether having a pharmacist check in with people who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) after they return home from the hospital could help them manage their condition better. Researchers followed 174 adults with moderate to severe COPD for a year to see if these consultations reduced the number of serious symptom flare-ups, emergency room visits, and hospital stays. The goal was to see if better support from a pharmacist could improve patients' quality of life and help them use their inhaler medications correctly.
