Feeling the missing foot: new study hopes to trick the brain for better walking
NCT ID NCT07191795
Summary
This study is exploring whether the 'phantom' sensations people sometimes feel from a missing limb can be made useful. Researchers are testing if small changes to a prosthetic leg's socket can create helpful sensations that make walking feel more natural and less tiring. They will measure walking speed, balance, and comfort in people with lower limb amputations to see if these sensations improve their movement.
