Nerve block breakthrough: could a 7-Day treatment end phantom limb pain?

Summary
This study tests whether a continuous nerve block given for 7 days after a leg amputation can prevent or reduce phantom limb pain and the need for opioids. About 200 adults scheduled for lower leg amputation will receive either a numbing medicine or a placebo through a tiny tube placed near the nerve. The goal is to improve physical function and emotional well-being by stopping pain signals before they reach the brain.
