New PET scan spots hidden parathyroid tumors
NCT ID NCT04895631
First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026
Summary
This study tested a special PET scan that uses a radioactive tracer called 18F-fluorocholine to locate overactive parathyroid glands (adenomas) in people with primary hyperparathyroidism. 139 participants received the scan before surgery, and the results were compared to standard imaging and surgical findings. The goal was to see if this scan could more accurately pinpoint the adenoma, helping guide surgery.
