New PET scan could spot deadly lung disease years earlier

NCT ID NCT05452889

First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests a special PET scan that uses a tracer called 18F-fluoroglutamine to see if it can detect early signs of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a serious lung blood vessel disease. About 71 adults with or at risk for PAH will get the scan to measure how the tracer is taken up in the heart and lungs. The goal is to create a non-invasive tool that could diagnose PAH earlier and more accurately than current methods.
