New triple therapy aims to shrink abdominal tumors in colorectal cancer
NCT ID NCT07079462
First seen Jan 09, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing whether adding PET-guided radiation and an immunotherapy drug called cadonilimab to standard chemotherapy can shrink tumors better than chemotherapy alone in people with colorectal cancer that has spread to the lining of the abdomen. The study will enroll 40 adults whose cancer progressed after first-line treatment. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the combination therapy or standard second-line chemotherapy.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Cadonilimab (immunotherapy drug) combined with radiotherapy and standard chemotherapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could improve tumor shrinkage and delay progression for patients with colorectal cancer that has spread to the abdomen.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Combining treatments also raises the risk of side effects.
