New hip surgery technique aims to cut groin nerve injuries in half

NCT ID NCT07322705

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a traction method without a perineal post during hip arthroscopy can lower the risk of groin numbness, pain, and other complications. About 270 people with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) will be randomly assigned to either the new post-free method or the standard approach. Researchers will check for nerve injuries and track recovery using pain scores and function questionnaires.
