NCT ID NCT07374497
First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a simple massage technique during childbirth can lower the chance of having a surgical cut (episiotomy) or natural tears. About 200 women in active labor were randomly assigned to receive either standard care or standard care plus perineal massage. The massage was done by a trained doctor using a sterile lubricant. The goal was to see if this gentle approach leads to fewer and less severe perineal injuries right after delivery.
